It's billed as "a comic cat and mouse thriller that follows an unemployed Broadway actor whose troubled relationship with his mother transformed him into a ruthless killer."
The musical won the Outer Critics Circle Award and Drama Desk Award for Best Musical. Composer-lyricist Cohen's credits include the musicals Children's Letters to God, the Broadway-aimed The Opposite of Sex, and The Gig, Barnstormer, Glimmerglass and Boozy.
Andrew Huff plays Christopher "Kit" Gill, "the Lipstick Killer wanting to calm the never-ending taunting he feels from his deceased mother"; Chicago actor Alan Ball plays Detective Morris Brummell, "an average guy living with his mother who must battle the ambition Kit unleashes within him"; Lansing actress and Broadway veteran Jennifer Joan Joy plays Sarah Stone, Morris' girlfriend; Kate Willinger plays Flora, Morris' well-intentioned but often tormenting mother, plus multiple roles of the elderly-women victims in the production. Performances play Jan. 4-29 at Meadow Brook Theatre, in Rochester, MI. The troupe is one of the longstanding Equity companies in Michigan. For more information, visit www.mbtheatre.com.
