The SCR-commissioned work will run March 6-27, 2005, opening March 11 at the Costa Mesa company's stage. David Chambers — who adapted the replaced work from the Machiavelli tale — will direct Princess Marjorie.
The new adult comedy is billed as "a hilarious take on the shared memories of two highly imaginative brothers." The story finds the siblings reminiscing on their teen romances and one object of their affection in particular, "once so innocent and perfect, until she returns for a visit — all grown up."
The work was presented in SCR's NewSCRipts reading series on October 25.
Haidle penned Mr. Marmalade, which premiered at South Coast Repertory Theatre and is now slated for the Roundabout Theatre's 2005-2006 season under the direction of Michael Mayer. His Rag and Bone will debut with director Tina Landau as part of the Long Wharf Theatre's New American Voices in Jan. 2005. Other works include Kitty Kitty Kitty which played at the recent inaugural Summer Play Festival in New York City.
The design team for Princess Marjorie features Darcy Scanlin (sets), Irina Kruzhilina (costumes) and Peter Maradudin (lights). Jamie A. Tucker will serves as stage manager. Chambers last directed SCR's world premiere of Rolin Jones' The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow. He also directed the Broadway premieres of Christopher Durang's A History of the American Film and Howard Korder's Search and Destroy.
