Ganis and Whitaker will announce the nominees in 10 of the 24 award categories. The remainder of the nominations will be revealed on-line. (Playbill.com will post the complete list of Oscar nominees when it becomes available.) Whitaker won his Oscar for his performance as Idi Amin in "The Last King of Scotland." He recently completed work on "My Own Love Song" and will be seen next in "Hurricane Season."
As previously announced, Hugh Jackman, who won a Tony Award for his performance in The Boy From Oz, will host the annual Academy Awards. The Feb. 22 ceremony — which will be produced by Laurence Mark and executive produced by Bill Condon — will feature set designs by David Rockwell. ABC will broadcast the ceremony live from the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center.
