PlayBlog Norbert Leo Butz Goes Into "The Deep End" “The Deep End,” a new hour-long drama that follows five bright-eyed first-year lawyers starting out at a top firm, premieres tonight, Jan. 21, on ABC. Broadway veteran Norbert Leo Butz stars as one of the firm’s senior lawyers and its chief talent scout, Rowdy Kaiser.

Butz won a Tony Award for his role as Freddy, a charismatic conman in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and has been seen on Broadway in Wicked, Cabaret and Is He Dead?, among others.  Most recently, Butz starred in the new musical Catch Me If You Can at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre.

While Butz’s Rowdy is harassing young lawyers on “The Deep End,” the actor himself will return to Broadway this spring as Jeffrey Skilling in the music-heavy play Enron, about the now-infamous energy corporation. The show will open at The Broadhurst Theatre on April 27.
