News Norm Lewis Is Romantic Menace of California Fantasticks July 20-25 Norm Lewis, a veteran of Broadway's Side Show, shakes up a pair of lovers as El Gallo — a side-show character if ever there was one — in a revival of The Fantasticks at Music Circus in Sacramento July 20-25.

Karen Azenberg directs and choreographs the staging of the durable Tom Jones-Harvey Schmidt romantic musical fable. The show hasn't been seen at Music Circus in 37 years. The cast also includes Yuka Takara and James Snyder as the lovers, Luisa and Matt, with Steve Routman, Sal Mistretta, Don Mayo, Chris Weikel and Debbi Fuhrman. Valerie Gebert is music director.

Lewis heads off to play Coalhouse in a North Carolina staging of Ragtime after he sings "Try to Remember" for a week in The Fantasticks.

Music Circus presents in the Wells Fargo Pavilion, 15th and H Streets, in Sacramento, CA. Performances are 8 PM Tuesday-Saturday and 7:30 PM Sunday, with 2 PM matinees Thursday and Saturday.
