A new Canadian production of Shakespeare's Othello directed by Michael Langham is in the final week of performances at the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton, Alberta.

Allen Gilmore is Othello and Megan Follows (from TV's "Anne of Green Gables") is Desdemona.

Langham, born in England in 1919, succeeded Tyrone Guthrie as director of both Ontario's Stratford Festival (which Langham directed from 1956-67) and the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, MN (which he directed from 1971-78).

This production marks the first time since 1951 that Langham has directed Othello.

The season lineup of the Citadel Theatre also includes Hello, Dolly!, Dec. 6-Jan. 18; A Delicate Balance, Feb. 14-Mar. 8; Mrs. Warren's Profession, Mar. 21-Apr. 12; and Lady Be Good!, May 9-June 7. The theatre's "Contemporary Series" features Master Class, Mar. 7-29, and Skylight, April 11-May 3. The Citadel Theatre production of Othello is a co-production with the National Arts Center, Ottawa.
