News NY's Apollo Theater Welcomes World's Best Hip Hop Dancers This Weekend The Apollo Theater in Harlem, NY, hosts the Breakin' Convention hip hop dance festival this weekend, with events that kicked off Oct. 14. The line-up features celebrated French dance duo, Les Twins (who have worked with the likes of Beyonce, Jay Z and Missy Elliott), as well as a new work developed by acclaimed choreographer Rennie Harris.

Breakin' Convention returns to the Apollo for a third year; the six-day event features 17 dance acts from New York City, the U.S. and around the globe. The program also features hip hop dance workshops, interactive dance lounges, DJ sessions, live graffiti, panel discussions, a special amateur night performance and more. The line-up of performers also includes Grandmaster Caz; Brooklyn-based NL; Klassic and Havoc; Antoinette Gomis, a leading dancer in the French street dance scene; Compagnie Phorm, a dance duo from France and Argentina who mixes contemporary dance with musicality; Legendary Twins, Bronx-based b-boys; and BirdGang Dance Company, a United Kingdom-based dance company.

Events continue through Oct. 18 and take place at the Apollo Theater on the Apollo Mainstage, the Apollo Soundstage and under the Apollo Marquee. For detailed program and ticket information visit www.apollotheater.org.
