News   NY's New Audience Picks Jaan Whitehead For Exec Spot They've got an artistic director (Jeffrey Horowitz), they've got a chairman of the board (Ted Rogers). Now they've got an executive director: Jaan W. Whitehead. New York's Theatre For A New Audience, best known for its artistic collaborations with London's Globe Theatre, has created this new slot "to free Horowitz from many of the administrative duties he now performs."

New York's Theatre For A New Audience, best known for its artistic collaborations with London's Globe Theatre, has created this new slot "to free Horowitz from many of the administrative duties he now performs."

"Human and financial resources" will be Whitehead's main focus, including leadership of the New Century Fund, an initiative to bring the Off Broadway theatre "financial stabilization, increased artistic resources," and, possibly, a new home. (The company currently use a church space in midtown.)

Previously director of development for Baltimore, MD's Center Stage, Whitehead holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University in political theory, which she's taught at Georgetown University in Washington DC.

Theatre For A New Audience was founded by Jeffrey Horowitz in 1979 and has since produced several Shakespeare plays, including Henry V, As You Like It and Two Gentlemen Of Verona, all starring the new Globe Theatre's artistic director, Mark Rylance.
