The musical, which was recently nominated for five Audelco Awards, was filmed at St. Paul's Community Baptist Church in Brooklyn and is expected to be available on DVD sometime in mid-2013. The project is a production of RLJ Entertainment's One Village Label.

Directed by Kenneth Ferrone, the musical features Jennifer Fouche as Roberta with Tracey Conyer Lee (Gloria), April Nixon (Simone), Amy Goldberger (Heather) and Lexi Rhaodes (Tamika).

Sistas, which is written by Dorothy Marcic, is described as "an uplifting musical journey, of a multi-generational African-American family. [The production is] based on a series of interviews conducted with Black women over a six-year period. Using a playlist of songs made famous by artists that include Billie Holiday, Lena Horne, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Beyoncé and others, this musical tells of the struggles, the joys and the triumphs of being Black and of being a woman in America. Told through the life and experiences of one woman and the women in her family, the story easily segues from the days of Jim Crow to the present and covers a range of topics from segregation, the women’s movement to the meaning of love and control."

The production also features associate direction by Edward Staudenmayer, lighting by Kia Rogers and set design by Josh Iancovelli.

Performances play Saturdays and Sundays at 4:30 PM.

St. Luke's Theatre is located at 308 West 46th Street (between 8th & 9th Avenues). For tickets, priced $39.50-$69.50, call (212) 239-6200 or visit www.Telecharge.com. For more information visit www.sistasthemusical.com.
