News Off-Bway's 2004 Lortel Awards Held at Minetta Lane May 3; Nominees Announced April 6 The 19th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards, celebrating excellence Off-Broadway, will be held May 3 at the Minetta Lane Theatre, a larger house than the awards' usual location, the Lucille Lortel Theatre.

The League of Off-Broadway Theatres and Producers announced that nominations will be revealed April 6. The cutoff for eligibility is March 31.

A cocktail reception to congratulate all of the nominees will be held April 19 at Ruth's Chris Steak House, 148 W. 51st Street.

The Minetta Lane Theatre (399 seats) provides more seats to accommodate increased attendance by both the industry and the public. A limited number of tickets, for the ceremony only, will go on sale to the public at $50 each through Ticketmaster at (212) 307-4100, and the Minetta Lane box office beginning April 6.

Among the highlights of the awards evening will be performances by the casts of the four nominees for Outstanding Musical.  Celebrity masters of ceremonies and presenters will be announced shortly; previous hosts have included Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, Alan Cumming and Brooke Shields, among others.

Tony Kushner (Angels in America, Homebody/Kabul and Caroline, or Change) will be honored with induction into the Playwrights' Sidewalk. Awarded since 1986, the Lucille Lortel Awards are produced by the League by special arrangement with the Lucille Lortel Foundation.  Additional support is provided by Theatre Development Fund.

The awards are named for the former actress-producer who, in her lifetime, embraced new and foreign works that have become the diet of Off-Broadway.
