O'Malley, who has appeared on Broadway in the revivals of Into the Woods, Annie Get Your Gun, as well as White Christmas and the world premiere of The Gershwins' An American in Paris, will remain with the Broadway production of Billy Elliot for a six-week engagement through Sept. 6.
Actress Leah Hocking, who originated the role of Mum in the Elton John-Lee Hall musical, will return to the production Sept. 8.
The cast of Billy Elliot features Tony winners David Alvarez, Trent Kowalik and Kiril Kulish, as well as Tommy Batchelor, as Billy and Tony winner Gregory Jbara as Dad. Haydn Gwynne, of the original London production, appears as Mrs. Wilkinson with Carole Shelley as Grandma and Will Chase as Tony.
The musical earned ten 2009 Tony Awards, including one for Best Musical. Billy Elliot has music by Elton John, book and lyrics by Lee Hall, choreography by Peter Darling and direction by Stephen Daldry. The production opened on Nov. 13, 2008, at Broadway's Imperial Theatre.
