This weekend presents the last chance to take in the sixth annual Blueprint Series at Richard Foreman's Off-Off-Broadway Ontological Theatre. The program, designed to spotlight emerging artists, will conclude July 12. This year's quartet of directors are Ryan Bronz, Brian Cronin, Judson Kniffen, and Katherine Ryan. Each has produced a 35-minute work.
Both Bronz and Ryan have written and directed their offerings. Bronz's Quiet Frank is the story of a twisted but truthful child. Ryan's Electronica explores the meaning of electronic music through theatrical performance using text gathered from New York-area interviews.
Kniffen has staged Fredrico Garcia Lorca's The Love of Don Perlimplin and Belisa in the Garden as a hallucinatory music-play. The Deep, directed by Cronin, is an ensemble-created adaptation of the work and life of artist Jackson Pollack. The four plays run in repertory at the Ontological Theatre, located at Saint Mark's Church at the corner of 2nd Ave. and 10th Street in Manhattan. The Deep will be presented July 10 and 12; Perlimplin on July 10; Quiet Frank on July 11; and Electronica on July 12.
