The search for youth, knowledge and power exemplified in Faust have been the basis of numerous novels, movies and plays. The Builders Association delivers their post-modern take on the tale in Jump Cut (Faust), running through Dec. 20 at NYC's Thread Waxing Space.
In 1926, early filmmaker, F.W. Murnau used his medium's latest innovations to create a new way of looking at Goethe's play for his generation. Jump Cut Director Marianne Weems followed suit, using MacArthur Award-winning playwright, John Jesurun's text and state-of-the-art technology bringing Faust into the end of the 20th Century.
Jump Cut contains video sequences designed by Wooster Group Associate- Christopher Kondek, lighting design by Jennifer Tipton, and a computer constructed soundtrack by Dan Dobson.
Jump Cut stars: Moira Owens, David Pierce, Heaven Phillips and Jeff Webster. For more information and/or reservations call (212) 966-9250.
