News   OOB’s Center Stage Stops Waving... Oct. 22 Not seen in New York since a March 1997 staging at Primary Stages, Gen LeRoy’s comedy-drama Not Waving... received a revival this month at Off-Off-Broadway’s Center Stage. The play, LeRoy's first, originally featured Kyra Sedgwick in the lead role of Nicole, a young woman who battles back from mental instability with the help of her mother, played by Sloane Shelton. At Center Stage, Janis Schodowski and Sheila Saunders play daughter and mom. Jacqueline Bowman and David Fraioli comprise the remaining cast.

K. Lorrel Manning directs the show, which opened Oct. 6 for a run ending Oct. 22.

A screenwriter and acclaimed children's novelist, Gen (pronounced "jen") LeRoy is married to designer Tony Walton, who created the original set for Waving. Not Waving... premiered in 1995 at FL’s Pope Theatre, where it won the Carbonell Award for Best New Play.
