Fantasia, who made her Broadway debut in The Color Purple, will appear on the Feb. 3 "Oprah Winfrey" broadcast. The singing actress will discuss her time on Broadway and explain why she missed 60 performances during her limited run. Ruby Gettinger, the reality star best known for her dramatic weight loss, will also be a guest on the Feb. 3 program.

"The Oprah Winfrey Show" airs in the New York metropolitan area on WABC-TV, Channel 7 at 4 PM ET; check local listings.

Fantasia Barrino won "American Idol" in May 2004 and has gone on to release two solo albums, "Free Yourself" in 2004 and "Fantasia" in December 2006. She joined the Broadway company of The Color Purple in April 2007.
