59E59 Theaters presents the New York premiere of Orwell in America by Joe Sutton. In the play, the Pulitzer Prize nominee imagines what might have happened had the author George Orwell visited the United States after World War II.

Following its world premiere at Northern Stage in Vermont, the show kicked off its Off-Broadway debut October 7. Jamie Horton returns in the title role and is joined by Jeanna De Waal and Casey Predovic. The story follows Orwell’s imagined American book tour in the first years after the war, and his relationship with the chaperone who tries to dissuade him from flaunting his socialist beliefs.

Orwell in America is produced by Northern Stage and directed by Peter Hackett. The limited engagement is scheduled to play through October 30.

59E59 Theaters is located at 59 East 59th Street, New York. To purchase tickets, call Ticket Central at (212) 279-4200 or visit 59e59.org.
