News Orwell's 1984 to Play 59E59 Theaters in March Alan Lyddiard's stage adaptation of the George Orwell political satire 1984 will play a limited Off-Broadway engagement at 59E59 Theaters beginning March 13.

Godlight Theatre Company artistic director Joe Tantalo will stage the work, which officially opens March 25 and runs through April 19. Choreography is by Hachi Yu.

The cast will include Katherine Boynton, Enid Cortes, Gregory Konow, Deanna McGovern, Dustin Olson, Nick Paglino, Aaron Paternoster, Michael Shimkin, Scarlett Thiele, Michael Tranzilli and Sammy Tunis.

1984, according to press notes, "is a chronicle of one man's struggle against the ubiquitous, menacing state power Big Brother that tries to dictate nearly every aspect of human life. A classic in dystopian fiction and a trenchant political satire, 1984 resonates with themes as salient today as they were when this novel was first written."

1984 has designs by Maruti Evans (set, lighting and costume design) and Andrew Recinos (original music and sound design).
