Donny had a success with it -- why not David? DreamTeam Enterprises, Ltd., in association with Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, began a 17-city U.S. and Canadian tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat May 19 in Dallas, packed to the gills with young Osmonds. The latest stop on the tour is a Houston, TX Theatre under the Stars at the downtown Wortham Center.
David Osmond, Alan's son and Donny's nephew, fill the title role. Backing David are six of his brothers: Michael, Nathan, Scott, Jon, Alex and Tyler. Crazy for You's Jodi Benson plays the narrator.
David follows in the footsteps of his uncle, who scored a success in Joseph a few years back. (In fact, David understudied Donny during that tour's Salt Lake City stop.) The original Osmond Brothers made their name in the early 1970s with a string of pop hits such as "One Bad Apple." The "Osmond Second Generation" has been recording since 1990.
