The 7 PM event at The Bell House in Gowanus, Brooklyn, is designed to "celebrate and raise money for future successes."
The event will feature music from Brooklyn rock 'n' roller Ariel Aparicio (www.arielaparicio.com). Renowned actors including Michael Shannon (2009 Oscar nominee, "Revolutionary Road"), Crystal Dickinson (Clybourne Park) and Brandon Dirden ("Tyler Perry's House of Payne") will bring to life selections from plays written by Red Hook kids.
Also expect performance games from the group's groundbreaking theatre programs, including Riot Act! and the Red Hook Theater Project (the audience will get into the act).
Food and beverages are by some of Red Hook's best restaurants including home/made, Hope and Anchor, and Kevin's.
A silent auction will give participants a chance to take home prizes from local restaurants and businesses including The Good Fork, Joya, Blue Print Cleanse, Erie Basin, Metal and Thread, Tiburon, Red Lipstick, Jalopy School of Music and more. The suggested donation for Make Your Own Benefit is $100 per person ($100 at the door). Tickets may be purchased online at www.falconworks.com.
For the last six years, Falconworks has used theatre as a tool for unifying the neighborhood and empowering individuals and families. The Make Your Own Benefit will enable Falconworks to continue working with local residents to create theatre that explores the unique issues of South Brooklyn and its individuals.
The Bell House is located at 149 Seventh Street between Second and Third Avenues (subway: F or G train to Fourth Avenue or R train to Ninth Street).
