News   Pair of Actors Will Assault Piano in Murder for Two, a New Musical Comedy

Murder for Two, A Killer Musical, a fast-paced new murder mystery musical comedy in which two actors portray all the characters — and play a single piano — will get a public reading at Bay Street Theatre Jan. 23 prior to regional productions.

In the new musical by Joe Kinosian (music and book) and Kellen Blair (lyrics and book), one actor plays the detective and the other plays all of the suspects. Thomas Caruso directs the Bay Street reading. Kinosian plays the suspects, and Adam Overett plays the detective.

According to Bay Street Theatre, in Sag Harbor, NY, "The list of suspects reads like a who's who of crazy; from a wife who seems more concerned about who stole the ice cream than who murdered her husband, to a 12-member boys choir that is nine boys short."

Playbill.com has learned that future plans for Murder for Two include a production at the Adirondack Theatre Festival in upstate New York. It will close the ATF season July 22–31 at the Charles R. Wood Theater in downtown Glens Falls, NY. (Visit www.ATFestival.org.)

42nd Street Moon in San Francisco, CA, will also stage the musical
Nov. 3-21. (Visit

Commercial producer Jayson Raitt (Rock of Ages, Vanities – A New Musical, Make Me A Song: The Music of William Finn, Being Alive), the producer of Murder for Two, A Killer Musical, said that discussions are ongoing for more productions in 2010 and 2011. The Bay Street "workshop performance" is 8 PM Jan. 23. Tickets are $15. A Q & A with the creators will follow. Visit www.baystreet.org.
