News Palm Springs International Film Festival Will Honor Academy Award Winner Meryl Streep Award-winning actress Meryl Streep will be honored by the Palm Springs International Film Festival, according to Deadline.com.

Streep will receive the Icon Award, which "honors a creative talent who, through the course of his or her career, has created a body of work which symbolizes the highest level of achievement in the motion picture art form." Streep's stage appearances include Trelawny of the Wells, The Cherry Orchard, The Seagull, Mother Courage, The Taming of the Shrew, Henry V, Measure for Measure, Taken in Marriage and Alice in Concert. In the summer of 2012 Streep appeared in a gala reading of Romeo and Juliet for the Public Theater opposite Kevin Kline at the Delacorte Theater.

She is a three-time Academy Award winner for "The Iron Lady," "Sophie's Choice" and "Kramer vs. Kramer." Her numerous screen appearances also include the upcoming film "August: Osage County," "The Devil Wears Prada," "Doubt," "Julie & Julia," "Postcards from the Edge" and "The Bridges of Madison County." She will play The Witch in the upcoming film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods.
