Once Upon a Mattress was all that it took for Carol Burnett to spring to superstardom back in 1959, and it may well work the same wonders for the already well-established Sarah Jessica Parker in a revival that begins previews Nov. 18.

The production is scheduled to open Dec. 19 at the Broadhurst Theatre.

Michael McGrath reportedly will play the Jester and several actresses including Beatrice Arthur and Dorothy Loudon have been mentioned for the role of the evil queen, but while rehearsals are scheduled to begin Oct, 7, a spokesperson said no other casting has been confirmed.

Dodger Productions--which did quite well in the 1994-95 season with Parker's boyfriend, Matthew Broderick, earning him a Tony and everything for How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (which Parker joined for several months this spring) is producing the revival. Gerald Gutierrez, the Tony-winning director of The Heiress and Delicate Balance will stage the show.

This retelling of The Princess and the Pea fable has music by Mary Rodgers, lyrics by Marshall Barer and a book by Barer, Jay Thompson and Dean Fuller. Liza Gennaro will choreograph.
