Norbert Leo Butz, Sherie René Scott and Adam Pascal are among the theatre celebs who will perform at the benefit concert "The Last 10 Years: The Music of Jason Robert Brown" on April 15 at 8 PM in the Sh-K-Boom Room of the Village Theatre.
Several other theatre favorites will take part in the event, which celebrates the CD release of Jason Robert Brown's The Last Five Years while benefiting City at Peace-New York, a national organization dedicated to changing the lives of teenagers through the performing arts. Additional performers include Brooks Ashmanskas, Andrea Burns, Mario Cantone, Keith Byron Kirk, Adriane Lenox, Jessica Molaskey and former Capeman star, Sara Ramirez.
This one-night-only concert will be directed by Daisy Prince, who helmed Brown's latest musical, The Last Five Years, which is currently playing Off-Broadway's Minetta Lane Theatre. The through-sung piece co-stars Butz and Scott as an ill-fated couple who tell their story in a unique fashion. Butz delivers his songs from the time the couple meets until their break-up, and Scott sings her songs in the reverse order, from dissolution to union.
The benefit at the Village Theatre will feature tunes from The Last Five Years as well as works from Brown's Tony-winning Parade, his Off-Broadway piece, Songs for a New World, and new tunes.
The Village Theatre is located at 158 Bleecker Street in New York City. Tickets for the benefit are priced at $25, $50 and $65 and are available by calling Ticketmaster at (212) 307-4100 or in person at the Village Theater Box Office. Tickets priced $50 and above will include admission to the post performance party — held at Chris Barish’s Light at 123 E. 54th St. — which celebrates the CD release of Five Years. The premiere cast recording of The Last Five Years is due in stores April 16 on the Sh-K-Boom Records Label. Tickets for the musical at the Minetta Lane are available by calling Ticketmaster at (212) 307-4100.
