Tony and Olivier Award-winner Patti LuPone, who recently thrilled London audiences with her newest concert program, "Matters of the Heart," will perform highlights from that act for New York audiences in a special, one-night-only gig at Joe's Pub. La LuPone brings her evening of song (soon to be available on CD from Varèse Sarabande) to the Public Theater's new cabaret space on Sunday, September 26 at 9 PM. Tickets are $30 and may be purchased by calling Telecharge at (212) 239-6200. There is also a two-drink minimum.
For those of you unable to attend the live concert, don't fret. Fans can get a dose of the performer tomorrow night (Wednesday, September 1) on PBS's "In Performance at the White House" series. Subtitled "The Singer and the Song," the one-hour program features performances by LuPone, James Naughton, Jennifer Holliday and Brian Stokes Mitchell. The program will air in the Metropolitan area at 8 PM on Channels 13 and 49. Check local listings.
And, our Evita gal will take part in a CD signing on Friday, September 24 at the Barnes & Noble bookstore at Lincoln Triangle (1972 Broadway at 66th Street). LuPone will sign copies of her “Matters of the Heart” CD beginning at 7 PM. Diva lovers unite!
