The Molière comedy, under the direction of Gus Kaikkonen, began performances March 17 and will continue through April 19 at the downtown theatre company.
Tartuffe features TJ Edwards (Orgon), Bradford Cover (Tartuffe), Dominic Cuskern (Cléante), Rachel Botchan (Elmire), Sean McNall (Damis), Robin Leslie Brown (Dorine), and Carol Schultz (Madame Pernelle), Carrie McCrossen (Mariane), John William Schiffbauer (Valère), Kila Packett (Laurent), Julie Ferrell (Flipote) and Kraig Swartz (M. Loyal/Officer).
According to press notes, "Orgon would cheerfully sacrifice his family's happiness to help the hypocrite Tartuffe, who is ready to let him! Will their treachery tear this family apart, or will goodness and plain old common sense save the day? Once considered too dangerous a comedy to be played, Molière's scathing satire skewers false moralists and those who follow them."
Tartuffe has scenic design by Harry Feiner, costume design by Sam Fleming, lighting design by Stephen Petrilli and sound design by M.L. Dogg.
