The Robbins tribute, to include Fancy Free, the company premiere of In the Night, and The Concert, opens the season at Philadelphia's Academy of Music in October. On October 13, the company presents a one-night event of "audience favorites," also at the Academy, starring its principals and soloists.
The Nutcracker, performed with George Balanchine's choreography, returns to the Academy for the 38th consecutive year in December. A production of Giselle follows at the Merriam Theater in February 2007.
In March, the company returns to the Academy of Music for a program pairing Orff's Carmina Burana and Balanchine's Serenande; in April it presents a program of contemporary works, including In the Upper Room, Christopher Wheeldon's Continuum, and Val Caniparoli's Lambarena (getting its company premiere) at the Merriam.
The season ends in June with The Sleeping Beauty, getting its first Pennsylvania Ballet performances in five years, at the Academy of Music.
