News Performers from Lion King, American Idiot and Hairspray Set for Reading of New Musical Broadway performers will take part in a staged reading of the new musical Birthday Boy Oct. 28 at 3:30 and 7 PM.

The new work "is a retelling through flashbacks and dream sequences," according to press notes. "This one-act reading is a window into the minds of two troubled teens on their journey to survive while struggling with the weight of the memories of their past. With a compelling, lush score by Brett Roelofs, a new book based on a true story by Jack Donahue, and a brilliant cast of some of Broadway's finest young actors, Birthday Boy gives a voice to a community that may feel alone with their shame, and provides the courage and support to come out and come home to a world that is ready to hear their story."
