The National High School Musical Theater Awards (NHSMTA), according to press notes, is a "national celebration of outstanding student achievement recognizing individual artistry in vocal, dance and acting performance." NHSMTA is produced by Pittsburgh CLO, Nederlander Alliances LLC and The Broadway Education Alliance to "invigorate and support in-school theatre arts programs."

This year's awards went to Shauni Ruetz from Wayne Central High School in Rochester, NY, for her performance as The Witch in Into the Woods and Ryan McCartan from Minnetonka High School in Minneapolis, MN, for his performance as Finch in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
