Director, adaptor and lyricist John Caird posed at the Dec. 3 Jane Eyre opening night party with his design collaborator, John Napier, who created a world of projections in which Jane's world appears around her on a series of screens that rise and fall.

Jane Eyre tells of a plain but smart woman — a governess - who falls in love with the mysterious, secretive Rochester in provincial England. The Paul Gordon-John Caird musical received its first major produciton in 1996 at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto (produced by the Mirvishes) and, after script and score refinements, was produced again at the La Jolla Playhouse in summer 1999, where it was a smash audience favorite. Marla Schaffel and James Barbour star as Jane Eyre and Rochester.
