The yearly event boasted company members of more than 20 musicals performed for the crowd. Broadway on Broadway 2006, began at 11:30 AM, and drew a crowd of over 50,000 theatre fans. The attendees enjoyed performances from the casts of Avenue Q, Beauty and the Beast, The Color Purple, The Drowsy Chaperone, Hairspray, Jersey Boys, The Lion King, Mamma Mia!, Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, The Producers, Rent, Spamalot, Tarzan, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Wedding Singer and Wicked plus the soon-to-open productions of Les Misérables, High Fidelity, Grey Gardens, Jay Johnson: The Two and Only! and The Times They Are A-Changin’ At Left (From Top): Grey Gardens'Christine Ebersole and host Martin Short; From The Lion King, Kissy Simmons; The Drowsy Chaperone's Bob Martin and Beth Leavel; From the upcoming musical High Fidelity, Jenn Colella and Will Chase.
