News   Photo Call: Jonathan Groff Reprised His Royal Hamilton Performance For One-Night Only Event Jonathan Groff  reprised his acclaimed performance as King George in an excerpt from Lin-Manuel Miranda's celebrated show Hamilton at the Lapham's Quartely Gala dinner, Decades Ball: The 1780's on June 1.

Other performers at the gala included Mary-Louise Parker reading an excerpt from Choderlos de Laclos’s "Dangerous Liaisons," Kevin Kline reading Richard Brinsley Sheridan, F. Murray Abraham reading from the journals of William Maclay, one of the members of the first U.S. Senate under the then new constitution; Dakin Matthews, reading two of Benjamin Franklin’s letters; and Julia Bullock singing Mozart. 

The evening, which was emceed by The Public Theater's artistic director Oskar Eustis and took place at Gotham Hall, celebrated Lapham’s Quarterly’s eighth year of publication. The Benefit Committee included such artists and patrons as Alec Baldwin, Jackie and Nick Drexel, Barbara Fleischman and Deborah Landesman.

Lapham’s Quarterly is an acclaimed literary magazine and journal of history and ideas established in 2007 by editor emeritus of Harper's Magazine, Lewis Lapham. As well as being the publication's founder, editor and publisher, he is the author of 13 books and creator of the documentary film "The American Ruling Class". The gala also celebrated his 80th birthday.
