News PHOTO CALL: Jonathan Hogan, Maureen Anderman and More in Berkshire's A Delicate Balance Edward Albee's tense family drama A Delicate Balance, directed by Tony Award-winning playwright David Auburn, began performances Aug. 17 at the Berkshire Theatre Festival.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning play will officially open Aug. 24 and run through Sept. 4 on the BTF main stage.

Stage veterans Jonathan Hogan (As Is) and Maureen Anderman (The Lady From Dubuque) portray Tobias and Agnes, respectively, whose peaceful life is interrupted when unexpected friends and family come to call.

The cast also features Mia Barron (The Coast of Utopia) as their daughter Julia, Tony nominee Mia Dillon (Crimes of the Heart) as Edna, Keir Dullea ("2001 A Space Odyssey") as Harry and Lisa Emery (Present Laughter) as Claire.

According BTF, "Agnes and Tobias, a 50-something couple, want nothing more than to be left alone. However, they are saddled with Agnes’s alcoholic sister. When their daughter returns home as a result of her fourth divorce and their best friends seek asylum from some unnamed 'fear,' tensions fray and every relationship in the house threatens to fall apart. An examination of the intricate web we all create among our friends and family and how easily it can all fall apart, A Delicate Balance sings with Albee’s trademark lyricism and insight."
