The Andrew Lippa (right) Wild Party went into the recording studio April 11 to put down 19 of the show's tunes. Among the singing cast were Julia Murney (the showgirl blond Queenie), Taye Diggs (the giggolo Blackie), Brian d'Arcy James (the alcoholic clown Burrs) and Idina Menzel (Kate). The disc, recorded for RCA Victor, has an expected release date of July 11. Lippa's Wild Party ran Jan. 25 through April 9 at Manhattan Theatre Club, beating the Broadway Wild Party (taken from the same Joseph Moncure March poem) to the boards. Hopes had been to transfer the musical to a Broadway house, but no suitable theatre was available.
