News   PHOTO CALL: Philip J. Smith, a Titan of Broadway, Is Honored by Jewish Group Philip J. Smith, president of the omnipresent Shubert Organization, was on the receiving end of many accolades as the UJA-Federation honored him for his life's work on Feb. 28.

The Shubert Organization is a major force on Broadway, among other activities, the company produces productions, provides grants and owns 16 Broadway theatres. The UJA-Federation is the world’s largest local philanthropy community and helps sustain the activities of more than 100 health, human-service, educational, and community agencies, according to the group's website.
