The production is directed by Eric Woodall, music directed by Julie Bradley and runs July 9-27.
Parade opened on Broadway in Dec. 1998 and garnered several Drama Desk and Tony nominations and wins that season – including Tonys for Best Book for writer Alfred Uhry and Best Score for Jason Robert Brown, as well as Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Actor and Actress in a Musical for Brent Carver and Carolee Carmello, respectively.
Theatre Raleigh's production is billed as follows,"[Parade] is the tragic, true story of the trial and lynching of a man wrongly accused of murder. This story is brought to an emotional and theatrical life by acclaimed playwright Alfred Uhry and Jason Robert Brown...Its subject matter offers a moral lesson about the dangers of prejudice and ignorance that should not be forgotten."
Parade features Zachary Prince as Leo Frank and Lauren Kennedy as Lucille Frank, Carly Grissom, Sean Powell, Maurice Johnson, Ken Griggs, Jason Sharp, Josh Parrott, David McClutchey, David Bartlett, Bill Saunders, Phylicia Mpasi, Austenne Grey, Mary Katherine Fuller, Maigan Kennedy and Lydia Tart.
The design team includes: Sherry Lee Allen (choreographer), Chris Bernier (scenic and lighting design), Eric Collins (sound design), LeGrande Smith (costume design) and Denise Schumaker (properties).
