Arthur Laurents and Lauren Bacall told stories from the life of legendary lyricist Adolph Green at his Dec. 3 memorial at the Shubert Theatre. Laurents co-wrote Hallelujah, Baby! with Green and his partner, Betty Comden, while Bacall starred in Applause, which had a book by Comden and Green.

Green, Broadway lyricist-librettist and screenwriter who, with Comden, created On the Town, Bells Are Ringing, On the 20th Century and "Singin' in the Rain," died Oct. 24. The theatre community gathered together Dec. 3 at the Shubert Theatre to remember him with songs from his career and anecdotes about his very full life.
