Shanley directs and provided the book and lyrics to the one-night-only performance at The Lucille Lortel Theater. The work featured music by Krieger (Dreamgirls). The Monkey Show was billed as "a musical safari into the fevered hearts of apes in love!" The cast also featured Carlo Alban, Ivette Dumeng, Bill Evans, Ivan Hernandez, Sal Inzerillo, Angela Lewis and Ina Marie Smith.
