Forget "The Farmer and the Cowhand." Oklahoma! has the Director and the Choreographer (not to mention the Producer). Multi-Tony winner Susan Stroman (with actress-dancer Rachelle Rak) redid the dances of Oklahoma! for producer Cameron Mackintosh and director Trevor Nunn. Oklahoma! opened March 21 at the Gershwin Theatre.

Oklahoma! was based on Lynn Riggs' play, Green Grow the Lilacs, about innocent folk in the Oklahoma territory around the turn of the century, prior to statehood. The musical marked the first collaboration of Rodgers and Hammerstein and resulted in the well-loved tunes "Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'," "Surrey With a Fringe on Top," "I Cain't Say No" and "People Will Say We're in Love." This revival originated at the Royal National Theatre in 1998 with Nunn directing and Stroman choreographing, before transferring to Broadway's Gershwin Theatre.
