News PHOTO CALL: The Drowsy Marquee at the Marquis Wakes Up Tony Award winner Beth Leavel lit up Times Square in character as the often very-lit "Drowsy Chaperone."

Leavel braved the cold and rain to be on hand to light the new marquee for The Drowsy Chaperone, which harkens back to the neon and bulb advertisements and marquees that gave "The Great White Way" its nickname. The retro-styled marquees feature 40 neon tubes, over 1,000 bulbs, and echoes the 1930's era in which the Drowsy Chaperone is set.

 


Beth Leavel as "Drowsy" ascends the genie to begin the lighting ceremony.
 


The switch is about to be thrown on the new marquees outside the Marriott Marquis. And....
