News PHOTO CALL: Whoopi Goldberg Meets The Scottsboro Boys and Susan Stroman It's been a star-studded week backstage at Broadway's The Scottsboro Boys. Just two days after Denzel Washington's visit to the new Kander and Ebb musical, Whoopi Goldberg was on hand Nov. 11 to take in the show and meet with the cast and director Susan Stroman.

The musical conjures the defunct, highly theatrical minstrel show form to tell the tale of a group of young black men who were accused of raping two white women in Scottsboro, AL, in 1931.

The Scottsboro Boys boasts a score by John Kander and the late lyricist Fred Ebb, libretto by David Thompson and direction and choreography by Susan Stroman.

The Broadway cast features Joshua Henry as Haywood Patterson, John Cullum (celebrating his 50th anniversary on Broadway) as The Interlocutor, Colman Domingo as Mr. Bones, Forrest McClendon as Mr. Tambo, Josh Breckenridge as Olen Montgomery, Derrick Cobey as Andy Wright, Jeremy Gumbs as Eugene Williams, Rodney Hicks as Clarence Norris, Kendrick Jones as Willie Roberson, James T. Lane as Ozie Powell and Ruby Bates, Julius Thomas III as Roy Wright, Sharon Washington as The Lady and Christian Dante White as Charles Weems and Victoria Price.
