Classic Arts News Photo Journal: Denyce Graves Stars in Samson et Delila at San Diego Opera "After experiencing the San Diego Opera's spectacular production of Samson and Delilah," wrote the reviewer for the San Diego Union Tribune, "... it seems unimaginable that composer Camille Saint-SaêŠns had originally conceived of his work as an oratorio."
Scroll down to see some images of Lotfi Mansouri's lavish production, which stars Clifton Forbis as the Israelite hero Samson and Denyce Graves (in her company debut) as the Philistine temptress Delilah. In the pit, Karen Keltner conducts the San Diego Symphony Orchestra.

And, speaking of debuts, this is the first time in San Diego Opera's four-decade history that the company has presented Saint-SaêŠns's biblical extravaganza.

Samson et Delila receives two more performances: tonight at 8 p.m. and Sunday (February 25) at 2 p.m. at the Civic Theatre in downtown San Diego. (Both shows are sold out.) More details about the production and the company are available at www.sdopera.com.
