Classic Arts News Photo Journal: Il Turco in Italia at Covent Garden The Royal Opera's new production of Rossini's Il Turco in Italia starring mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli opened on May 28.
Bartoli sings Fiorilla; Alessandro Corbelli plays her husband, Don Gerino. Ildebrando d'Arcangelo is her would-be lover, Selim; Thomas Allen is the poet Prosdocimo.

The cast also inludes Barry Banks as Don Narciso, Heather Shipp as Zaida, and James Edwards as Albazar. Adam Fischer is the conductor.

Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier are the directors. The set designs is by Christian Fenouillat, the costumes by Agostino Cavalca, and the lighting by Christophe Forey.
