The performer "has placed his unique jazz style on 14 Frank Loesser standards" from the hit 1950 musical. The disc — "Frank Loesser's Guys and Dolls" — was released on the Varese Sarabande label May 24. It features Rose on piano accompanied by noted bassist Jay Leonhart and includes songs from both the Broadway and motion picture versions of the musical. Expect "Luck Be a Lady," "My Time of Day" and "I've Never Been In Love Before."
"For me," Rose said in a statement, "these dynamic songs never seem 'dated' — they have an urban edge and energy, beauty and warmth, and are a joy to play."
The album is produced and arranged by Rose.
A revival of Guys and Dolls is currently playing in London starring Ewan MacGregor.
