Broadway and "Orange Is the New Black" Star Lea DeLaria Joins the Walls of The Palm
DeLaria has garnered acclaim as a multi-talented comedian, actress and jazz musician, however is best known for her stand-out role as Carrie 'Big Boo' Black in the hit Netflix series, "Orange is the New Black." Her other TV credits include "Californication," "Will and Grace" and "Law and Order:SVU". On Broadway she was seen as Hildy in the 1998 revival of On the Town, as well as in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Her latest solo recording, "House of David: delaria + bowie = jazz," is available on the Ghostlight Records label. The new recording reexamines the work of music icon David Bowie.

"House of David" features Kevin Hays on piano and keyboards, Tony Scherr on bass and guitar, Steve Cardenas on guitar, Kenny Wollesen on drums and vibes, Seamus Blake on saxophones, Bashiri Johnson on percussion, Shedrick Mitchell on Hammond B3 and special featured vocalist Janis Siegel.

As previously reported, Bowie is preparing to make his debut as a stage composer with Lazarus, an adaptation of the same material as Bowie's musical film The Man Who Fell to Earth. It is scheduled to begin previews Dec. 7 at New York Theatre Workshop. DeLaria is not involved with that production.
