Pieter-Dirk Uys as Evita Bezuidenhout.

Uys' alter ego, Evita Bezuidenhout, has been called South Africa's answer to Dame Edna Everage. "Although the General Election is still two years away," according to press notes, "the African National Congress will vote in a new President of the Party at the end of 2007 and the question on most South Africans' minds is: who will be the next President to follow in the footsteps of Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki? As the succession battle heats up Pieter-Dirk Uys offers a new candidate, Mrs. Evita Bezuidenhout, who might eventually be the only choice for President. Could the most famous white woman in South Africa now allow herself to be convinced to pick up the reins and take her people into the next phase of their lives?"

Uys has appeared on stage in London as his alter ego, Evita, in Elections and Erections, Adapt or Dye and Foreign Aids.

Cape Town, South African native, Pieter-Dirk Uys has written and performed 20 plays and over 30 revues and one-man shows throughout South Africa and abroad. Paradise is Closing Down, Panorama, God's Forgotten, Faces in the Wall and Just Like Home have been performed internationally, and his one-man shows Adapt or Dye, One Man One Volt, You ANC Nothing Yet, Truth Omissions, Live from Boerassic Park, Dekaffirnated and Foreign Aids have been presented in the UK, Denmark, Germany, Holland, USA and Canada.
