The Scarlet Pimpernel hasn't opened yet on Broadway, but the sword-fighting is about to begin.
As part of a Bastille Day celebration on Gansevoort St. in lower Manhattan, Rick Sordelet, fight director for the up-and-coming Scarlet Pimpernel and "action coordinator" for the currently running Titanic, Beauty and The Beast and As Bees In Honey Drown, will demonstrate sword fighting from the time of the French Revolution.
The celebration is sponsored by Restaurant Florent and benefits Housing Works, Inc. The demonstration is free and is scheduled for July 20 at 4 PM on a stage set up on Gansevoort Street. The musical adaptation of the swashbuckling The Scarlet Pimpernel opens Nov. 9 at the Minskoff Theatre.
