Gilbert and Sullivan's HMS Pinafore is to be revived at the Savoy, in a production directed by Martin Duncan and designed by Tim Hatley.

The musical, which was last seen at the Savoy two years ago, will preview beginning Dec. 13 and open Dec. 18, with a run currently programmed to March 1, 2003.

The cast of this satire on the Victorian navy and class system includes Sam Kelly (Sir Joseph Porter), Tom McVeigh (Captain Corcoran), Joseph Shovelton (Ralph Rackstraw), Gareth Jones (Dick Deadeye), Della Jones (Buttercup), Sophie Louise Dann (Hebe), Alison Rae Jones (Share role of Josephine) and Samantha Hay (Share role of Josephine).

HMS Pinafore was one of the many musical hits that Gilbert and Sullivan had in late Victorian times, and the Savoy Theatre was built to meet the popular demand for their shows.

Songs from Pinafore include "When I was a Lad," "I'm Called Little Buttercup" and "He Is an Englishman."
