News Playwrights Horizons to Present Return of Men on Boats Men on Boats, Jaclyn Backhaus' comedy that premiered at Clubbed Thumb’s 2015 Summerworks Festival, will return to New York for a limited engagement Off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons.

The return staging at Playwrights Horizons’ Peter Jay Sharp Theater will be co-produced by Clubbed Thumb. Directed by Will Davis, performances are set to begin July 19 and play through Aug. 14. An opening night is scheduled for Aug. 1.

The show is billed as a "joyfully anachronistic retelling of the 1869 Powell expedition." It follows the story of a one-armed captain and his crew of volunteers as they set out on the Colorado River.

The cast of Men on Boats includes Hannah Cabell, Danielle Davenport, Danaya Esperanza, Donnetta Lavinia Grays, Birgit Huppuch, Layla Khoshnoudi, Kelly McAndrew and Kristen Sieh.

The production features scenic design by Arnulfo Maldonado, costume design by Ásta Bennie Hostetter, lighting design by Solomon Weisbard and sound design by Jane Shaw. The production stage manager is Erin Gioia Albrecht.
