News Pomp and Parade: Extra Performances Added to Goodspeed's 1776 Due to "overwhelming demand for tickets," 1776 has been extended through Dec. 9 — with five added performances — at Goodspeed Opera House, Goodspeed Musicals announced Oct. 18.

Additional performances have been scheduled for Dec. 7 at 2 and 8 PM, Dec. 8 at 3 and 8 PM, and Dec. 9 at 2 PM. Goodspeed Opera House is located in East Haddam, CT.

The tale of the creation of the Declaration of Independence has a book by Peter Stone and songs by Sherman Edwards.

Peter A. Carey plays the determined John Adams, Ronn Carroll is the beloved Ben Franklin, and Edward Watts is the inspiring Thomas Jefferson.

1776 is directed by Rob Ruggiero, who is currently helming Make Me a Song toward its Off-Broadway bow.

Choreographer Ralph Perkins is the director of dance for the theatre division of the Hartt School of Music and artistic director and co-founder of The New Works Project in Las Vegas, NV. Music director for 1776 is Michael O'Flaherty.
