News   Pour the Whiskey! Murder Ballad's New Jersey Premiere Will Rock a Hoboken Bar
Murder Ballad, a dark and intimate tale that explores the complications of love and the compromises we make, will be given its New Jersey premiere at an Irish Pub in Hoboken.

Presented by the Vagabond Theatre Company, performances will begin May 7, prior to an official opening May 8, at Willie McBride's. The run will continue through May 16.

Max Friedman, who collaborates with music director Charlie Rosen on Broadway Big Band, will helm the NJ premiere with music direction by New York City songwriter David Maglione (of composing team Maglione and Ruiz).

Auditions will be held March 29 in New Jersey and March 30 in Manhattan. More information can be found on the Vagabond website at VagabondOnStage.com.

Murder Ballad was conceived by Jonathan Larson Award winner and two-time Susan Smith Blackburn Prize finalist Julia Jordan with book and lyrics by Jordan and music and lyrics by indie rock singer/songwriter Juliana Nash.

The show premiered in an acclaimed, sold-out run at Manhattan Theatre Club's The Studio at Stage II and transferred to Off-Broadway's Union Square Theatre. The action was set in a bar, with Rebecca Naomi Jones narrating. The story centers on a love triangle between Sara, an Upper West Sider who is caught between her husband and her irresistible past.

Willie McBride's is located at 616 Grand Street in Hoboken, NJ.
